There is no wonder that we’ve seen a significant change in the world of remote work. COVID-19 has almost forced us to adopt the remote work model. that was previously common in specific sectors, and has never been required on such a global level across all sectors before.

Luckily for us, the technologies and collaboration tools are currently available. That made it easy to switch to remote work. That’s not only changed the way we think about remote work. It also to shows us how convenient and valuable it can be.

Before our forced switch to remote work, many businesses embraced the move by offering work-from-home days to help their employees in achieving a healthier work-life balance. The benefits of remote working are quickly becoming a necessity.

Some of the large firms in the world have said that work from home can be permanent. While firms do not have to provide remote work choices, the statists show they should.

Such stats of remote working tell us quite a lot. In this article, we learn whether remote working is a future thing or it stays here and is our workers more productive? Global workplace Analytics believes that around 25 to 30 percent of workforces will remotely by 2021 and in the coming years.

1. Statistics For Employers

Increasing demand for remote work offers some significant advantages for employees. and it is also great news for employers to hire a dedicated remote team. However, some managers are struggling with the idea of trusting workers while working from home.

There are some key reasons why management should be more than happy to implement this modern remote working model. The reality is that remote employees are often more involved.

Global Workplace Analytics reports that employers can save over $11,000 a year per worker. Savings are due to lower office room costs, higher efficiency, decreased absenteeism, and lower turnover.

They also forecast savings of $2,500 to $4,000 a year for workers. This is due to reduced food costs, fuel costs, parking, and servicing of cars.

The Gallup State of the American Workplace study reveals that the degree of involvement of remote employees is 32% higher than that of office workers at 28%.

The study also indicates that remote employees experience a greater sense of belonging and interact more frequently with their teams online.

The key is to build OKRs (Objectives and Key Results) around remote working to make sure everyone feels more relaxed with those who work remotely or from home.

2. Remote Work Statistics For Employees

There are many apparent benefits of being able to work from homes, such as time flexibility, low or no travel expenses, and more time with the family.

But there has also been a rise in the number of remote work jobs in the market. The Remote Work Statistics study for 2019 reported a 7.9% increase in the availability of remote work positions from 2016 to 2017. The remote workforce has increased by 44percent over the last ten years.

A 2016 survey by the University of Minnesota and MIT focused on Fortune 500 employees of companies. participating in remote work found “higher levels of job satisfaction and lower levels of burnout and psychological stress.”

As seen in the Global Workplace Analytics survey, the final important point is the higher pay of remote employees whose average annual earning is $4,000 higher than that of office-based workers.

Remote employees are saving about $7,000 a year in operating expenses and lower travel requirements for remote work.

3. Remote Work And Productivity Statistics

One evident and common statistic linked with remote work is its improved productivity, which both the employee and the organization should be extremely pleased about.

It is the responsibility of the managing team to make sure that those who work remotely are secure. Those who work remotely full time and those who work remotely at least once per week.

A 2012 Stanford study analyzed the performance of individuals working remotely for a billion-dollar NASDAQ-listed corporation. Which found that remote work improved employee productivity by 13 percent as they took small breaks and had a less noisy work environment.

Further research showed that the remote work environment had a strong impact on concentration with staff who claimed lack of focus at their office-based desk rising by 16% over the last five-year period?

The State of Remote Work report also indicated that remote employees work more than 40 hours a week, by intention, as they enjoy what they do.

Job satisfaction is essential to hold employee productivity high and reduce employer turnover. Firms that enable their workers to telecommute also suggest their firm to their friends looking for work more frequently than non-companies.

There are several tools and resources for those remote working to enhance productivity. This is a learned behavior that those who anticipate working remotely more in the future are required to adapt.

4. The Sectors That See The Most Remote Work

An article found that remote work is more common in high-income areas. That is likely due to the fact that remote work pays a high salary. There is also requires a connection between the role of the job and the actual ability to function remotely.

This is why software engineering and accounting positions are at the highest rate. Many blue-color jobs merely cannot transition to remote work homes.

Remote work is simply not practical for all industries. However, technical developments are filling the gap even if there is a possibility to work at least half of the day remotely.

A better work-life balance can be accomplished, and workers accept that flexible schedule option. And it’s preferred by all industries. Statistics worldwide recommend that we see a lift in all of these reported figures as more workers work remotely.

5. Reduces Stress

Flex Jobs conducts a survey. They asked 3,900 people how work affects their mental health. Out of the 2,100 people who have mentioned they have a mental illness. Such as anxiety or depression. 80 percent said having flexible work would help them to manage their mental health.

6. Improves Loyalty

The Stanford University research stated that people who worked remotely were less likely to leave the organization for another job. Overall, the study found a 50% decrease in turnover among home-based employees.

Besides, 81% of employees would be more loyal to their employers if they had flexible job opportunities, including remote work.

Wrap Up

Remote working is getting attention day by day. From the statistics mentioned above, it’s clear that remote work is an excellent choice for both workers and companies.

Several companies favor remote work and offer their services like Aspired and allow their workforce to work remotely with ease.

As workers can save their time and energy by reducing travel, and getting more work done, it boosts productivity. And on the other side, it improves the work-life balance.
