“Wedding is a new beginning of life, a new milestone to happiness, and usefulness.”

And it is crucial to frame these lifetime moments. The wedding photographer captures every part of the wedding day, which will tell the beautiful story of the special day. The great wedding photographers not just take photos, they always try to freeze the memories. They capture such adorable moments that you will cherish forever.

The wedding can be held at different times of the day. Some people prefer to have their wedding ceremony in the late morning, some in the evening time, and some at the night hours. And there are different camera settings and photography tricks for the different time of the day.

The evening wedding ceremony starts around 4.30 pm and ends up at 10 pm. The evening time provides specific light, and being a savvy photographer, one must know what conditions you will be assisting your subjects with. If you know some photography tricks in advance, you can create a very different style and mood in the pictures.

In this article, we will give you 8 tips that will help you sneak out the emotions of the people effectively.

1. Use Second Light Source

Although the sunlight is the best for high-quality pictures, during the evening, the sun sets down, which results in low natural light, due to which it would be better to use secondary light sources such as a camera flashlight or another light source. There are several off-camera light equipment that you can use to create the unique look of the subject as well as the ambience.

2. Bounce Your Flash

To add brightness in the pictures, bounce your camera’s flash. You will not need any additional tool to bounce the camera light over the people. Turn your flash backwards to the face of the wall, and slightly tilted up. The flashlight will take on the colour of the wall and creates a great atmosphere for the pictures. This trick will maximize your camera’s small flashlight into the amount of light you need.

3. Click Photos From Several Angles

There is a lot of difference between day and evening photography. It’s not like that the things which look good during the daytime will also look good in the evening time. So, it is essential to take pictures from various angles to get the best clicks. Try to mix up different angles and use a wide-angle to include the surrounding landscape.

4. Boost Up the ISO

ISO is simply the camera setting that defines its ability to capture the light. The higher the ISO sensitivity of the camera, the faster the camera flash will recycle. It increases the shutter speed and reduces the chances of blur in the images. The simple process behind this is that, as you increase the ISO, the camera’s sensor becomes more sensitive to light, which results in more brightness in pictures without slowing down the shutter speed.

The wedding photographers increase their cameras ISO to 400 to get the shutter speed of 1/100th of seconds while shooting evening and night wedding ceremonies. It will reduce the amount of time they need to expose their picture, which is vital to capture crisp portraits during evening time.

5. Identify The Surroundings

Scouting the venue is a “must-do” before the wedding ceremony. It will help you to find the best spots to take photographs. Walk around everywhere, and click some photos of those locations which you will find perfect. And if possible try to research the wedding location in the evening time, this allows you to keep several options in the back of your mind during the shooting.

In Final Words

Having the latest and the greatest pieces of equipment isn’t all there to capture the alluring photographs. You need to know everything about your camera and the surrounding light to be a perfect photographer. By following the above tips, you can refine your evening wedding photography skills.
