Make sure to keep these details in mind before you go to purchase new phones

1. FACTORY SETTINGS

If we are looking for used mobile phones, we must check that there’s no prior information or data, or any marks that are the mark of the previous owner’s settings or the account section of the phone. This must undergo a factory reset.

The memory on the device must be kept fresh or cleaned clean so that you are able to customize your phone to your personal preference.

If you discovered any personal information stored on your phone, this is an indication that the phone isn’t refurbished, and therefore, it is not suitable for purchase.

2. WARRANTY AND RETURN POLICY

Many of the well-known brands offer a guarantee, however, it is important to note that the terms of the warranty and return policy may not be identical to the terms that are offered by the latest phones.

If the used phone doesn’t come with any warranty, you should think twice when you purchase it. Make sure you know precisely what the phone is protected from and under what circumstances it can be returned to the retailer.

3. ESN NUMBER

Every mobile is equipped with an ESN Number, also known as the Electronic Serial number within the cell phone’s battery that is unique. For every mobile phone. Through this number, the manufacturer can give details about the previous ownership.

Everything that is associated with the phone is identifiable with this specific ESN phone number.

4. PRICE

The majority of people purchase refurbished iPhones because of their price. Do not buy a used mobile at the same cost as the brand new one. You likely will purchase a brand unboxed new mobile.

The cost is based on the purpose of refurbishment. Therefore, a device that has a low cost might not function and function properly.

5. STANDARD v/s FACTORY v/s RESELLERS

There are three kinds of mobile phones that have been refurbished,

A. Standard: This type of refurbishment takes place at the distributor level, similar to service providers, and they carry out an repair of some type and usually do not return to the manufacturer to be repaired. They are moderately costly used mobile phones that have been refurbished.

B. Factory: These types of mobile phones are repaired through the manufacture. These are the most sought-after used mobiles that have been refurbished and they typically come with a warranty, which includes repair and replacement in the event of need. These are the highest-priced new phones.

C. Reseller: these mobiles are repaired by the owner before them or by those who work with the company that repairs the mobiles. These phones aren’t the most costly, however, they do not offer any kind of warranty.

The security and quality of refurbished mobile phones are from the factory and standard resellers. This is why I strongly advise you to buy used phones that are factory-refurbished.

6. LOCKED OR UNLOCKED

If your phone has been locked (mostly it’s preferred by network lock) It will work only with one particular network. However, if it’s not locked, it can be used by any provider.

Before purchasing the used handset make sure you check by contacting your supplier that there will not be any issues activating the handset after purchase the majority of mobile phones are not compatible with network services of certain networks. If you are buying a refurbished phone, ensure that the network lock is verified.

7. REPUTED BRAND & ACCESSORIES

Always buy refurbished phones from reputable manufacturers.

Examine the details like an earlier buyer, the purchase’s history, and the current status of your mobile device. If these details aren’t accessible, then consider rethinking your purchase since any trustworthy seller will keep the information.

Make sure you check all essential accessories like the charging ports, battery chargers, and more. The wrong fitting could cause permanent damage that won’t allow the full charge. This could create issues in synchronizing with your computer.

8. DETAILS ON RESTORATION & REFURBISHING PROCESS

Verify that the phone was repaired because of physical issues, such as damaged casing, damaged screen, or software issues or glitches in programming. Make sure you are aware of this.

Understanding precisely what’s been restored and repaired can help you purchase a phone that has been repaired confidently.

Bottom Line

The major difference between used and refurbished mobile phones is that repaired handsets are evaluated for functional and imperfections, while used phones might not be checked.

The purchase of refurbished phones is better than purchasing second-hand used phones. There are many advantages like low cost and eco-friendly benefits, as well as the availability of phones. Be aware that it’s a good bargain only if you look at the warranty, price comparison, and the return policy, along with the condition of the used mobile phone
