Hyderabad is the capital and the largest city of the South Indian state of Telangana. It is also famous for its classy monuments which include the Charminar, Ramoji Film City, Birla Mandir and the fort of Golconda.

Now, stepping forward to the food culture of the city –

Hyderabad famously known as the “biryani destination” of India, can spoil you with delicious choices when it comes to food. The food culture of beautiful Hyderabad is mixed, but it offers a beautiful blend of some Deccani and Telugu cuisines, with some influences of Arabic, Marathwada, and Mughlai culinary styles. Also,you can find different styles of catering services with unique special foods.

Although, there’s more to add when it comes to food culture let’s get started with some famous food of Hyderabad.

1. Hyderabadi Biryani

Let’s start with the most clichéd yet yummiest dish that the city offers- The world-famous Hyderabadi Biryani. When it comes to experiencing and gulping some lip-smacking biryani, Hyderabad is the best place. Cooked with either chicken or mutton, and laced with rich ingredients with the right amount of species and flavor, this dish is such a favorite the people don’t mind having it for breakfast, lunch or dinner

2. Haleem

This tasty stew adds to another famous food of Hyderabad. The stew consists of lentils, mutton, nuts and loaded with spices along with pounded wheat, this dish is made into a thick paste and commonly found during the month of Ramadan, where everybody queues up for their fair share of this delicacy.

3. Keema Samosa

Samosas are universally popular and are one of the famous evening snacks that drives any Indian crazy. But what’s different about Keema Samosa is that it’s filled with some spicy masala and minced meat or vegetables (peas, potatoes, and carrots) which makes it a much-have snack for any samosa lover, especially during monsoons.

4. Mirchi ka Salan

Along with other famous delicacies of Hyderabad, Mirchi ka Salan is yet another cuisine that is worth mentioning. This dish is made from coconut paste, peanuts, and sesame seeds as a base and green chilies as the main ingredient. The spices and flavors used in the dish make it an extremely balanced dish that gives a unique and refreshing flavor.

5. Boti Kebabs

Kebabs are a very popular barbequed meat dish which is extremely one of the famous food of Hyderabad. Intensely marinated mutton cooked with garden-fresh herbs and served with mint-chutney, the meat dish is considered a non-vegetarian’s idea of paradise, and one keeps drooling over the flavorsome affair.

6.Irani Chai

Now, the other famous specialty about the city is its ever famous Irani Chai. Persians first introduced this delicacy to the Hyderabad city of India. If you are fond of tea, Irani Chai on the streets of Hyderabad gives you a different take altogether. Accompanied by this thick, and sweet biscuit. Irani Chai is very milky and is boiled for hours over a low flame, leaving it with a bitter, amazing taste. As a tourist, you must visit the stalls or café to pamper your taste buds with its exquisite taste.

7. Dum Pukht

The mouth-watering Dum Pukht biryani is another must-try dish is the city of Hyderabad. It is a biryani that is cooked with loads of desi ghee in low flame. Additionally, it flavored with loads of herbs found in the local streets. The aroma of the dish is so soothing that keeps you drooling incessantly for days to go.

8. Qurbani ka Meetha

This authentic Hyderabadi dessert is yet another specialty of the city. This sweetened delicacy is made of dried apricots and garnished with slivers of pistachios, topped with almonds and cashew nuts. The dessert can be gnawed with ice-cream and is almost a staple at most weddings and other festivities in Hyderabad.

9. Murg do Pyaza

The delicious sweet and spicy dish is popularly known as “Chicken do Pyaza” which can be relished with naan or roti is one of the famous food of Hyderabad. This dish requires “double” some onions as compared to any other chicken dish. This delicious curry has a rich tomato gravy and eggs are also added sometimes to make it even more tasty.

10. Double ka Meetha

This dessert is adding to the famous cuisine of Hyderabad. It is prepared with the easiest and handy available ingredients like bread, sugar, and ghee. Also known as Shahi Tukda in North India, it is a famous sweet in Mughlai cuisine too. The Double here is indicated for Bread as Bread is popular as Double-Roti in Hindi. The Bread is left to soak in sugar syrup and topped with Malai, dry fruits, Almonds, and condensed milk.

11. Paaya

It is also considered as one of the famous foods of Hyderabad. Paaya is a dish made of goat trotters and roasted spices. The moist goat trotters are marinated, to make the goat trotters flavorful. It is served with piping hot rice and will make you go ‘yum’ in just seconds. The dish packs flavor in every bite and is considered to be one of the best dishes in India.

12. Sheer Khumra

After delighting your taste buds with the royal biryani & kababs, all you need is to get a sweet tinge of taste. This vermicelli pudding is generally made on special occasions and is a super hit amongst all ages. usually prepared with milk and dates, it has a great sweet creamy taste. If you prefer crunchiness, add some dry fruits.

13. Phirni

This sweet dessert is yet another Ramadan special. Usually prepared and served in the clay pots, this fragrant rice, and the milk-based dessert is a lovely treat for your taste buds. Gut friendly, this flavor-infused amazing dessert is the one to gorge on after your delicious meal to complete it.

14. Lukhmi

Another famous food of Hyderabad is his oddly shaped yet scrumptious samosa which is the most popular starter served at every Hyderabadi wedding. It is filled with various spices and with infused minces lamb meat which is a little tangy and covered with amazing outer crispy layer and is a must-try for any non-vegetarian.

15. Pesarattu Dosa

Pesarattu Dosa or Moong Dal Dosa is similar to the normal Dosa with the only difference being the batter is made of moong dal. It is one of the favorite breakfast dishes in Andhra Pradesh and also very nutritious. It is generally sided with ginger chutney, and the combination quite a feast for your taste buds. Therefore, this little twist to the south classic has earned this dish a spot on the list of the famous food in Hyderabad. 

16. Falooda

One of the delicious drinks where you can combine rose syrup, vermicelli, sweet basil seeds, jelly, milk, and ice-cream in the right quantities, the resultant concoction would be called Falooda. Delicious and pleasing the way it is served. in almost all restaurants across Hyderabad Falooda is sold. Perhaps you could just order this after taking a satisfactory meal of biryani or the like.
