7 Tips to Decorate Small Space Offices

If you’re a small business owner, you might not have the luxury of having a large office space. But that doesn’t mean you can’t have an impressive workspace! Here are some tips on how to decorate your small office space in ways that will make it feel more open and inviting.

1. Don’t sacrifice your style

Don’t be afraid to let your personality show through in your office, but don’t sacrifice your style for the sake of having a small space. Don’t go overboard with the decor, either—it’s easy to get carried away in this scenario and end up with too many things on display. It can be tempting to fill up every inch of wall space with pictures, prints, plants, and mirrors so that there’s no empty space left! But you’ll want to resist that urge because it will make your office look busy and cluttered rather than crisp and clean (and who wants that?).

Instead of cluttering up every available space with stuffy memorabilia or knick-knacks from home, try doing something bolder, including an unexpected element like industrial lighting fixtures or a cool clock that has nothing to do with traditional style.

2. Get rid of the clutter right away

If you’re trying to make a small space appear larger, it’s important to eliminate the clutter immediately. Don’t let it build up over time; don’t let it get to the point where it is overwhelming. It will be easier to get rid of all your stuff at once than do it piece by piece over several months or years.

3. Make use of vertical space

Vertical space is a great way to store things and create focal points in your small office. The walls are often the most readily available place to hang artwork, so use them! If you have the budget, consider hiring an interior designer to create a custom wall mural for your office. This will give the room more personality and make it feel homey.

Use tall shelving units or even freestanding cabinets that can hold books and files on their own, rather than stacking them on top of each other on the floor or using bookshelves with open sides. This will help keep your office neat and tidy without sacrificing much storage space!

4. Choose a neutral but exciting color palette for your office walls and stick to it throughout the room

  • Paint the walls in one of your favorite colors, or do an accent wall with something bolder.
  • If you want to make your small space feel bigger and more inviting, try using dark colors like charcoal gray or navy blue on the walls. These are great for adding some contrast to bright white furniture, too!

5. Use wall decals to create an accent wall or a visual point of interest

Wall decals are a great option if you want to add a touch of personality to your small office space. An even better option is a modern poster frame, which can have motivational messages or quotes that are important to you. They’re easy to apply and remove, which means that you can change them out as needed. Use them as an accent wall or as a visual point of interest in the room. You can also use them to cover up an ugly spot on the wall if necessary!

6. Use glass wherever you can

You can use glass in the form of cabinets, shelves, and tables. You can also use it in the form of windows. Glass helps to give more light into a room and makes it feel larger.

In addition to these ideas, you could use mirrors or reflective surfaces on walls to make your space seem bigger (for example, mirrors on small walls between two rooms).

7. Hang curtains on each side of the window to make it seem wider than it is

This trick is even more important if your office has a large window. A curtain rod that matches your wall color will help visually widen the space by creating one seamless design element. Hang curtains with a pattern or texture to help draw attention away from the window and toward other points of focus in the room.

The best thing about decorating a small space is that you can do whatever it takes to make it feel like home. You don’t have to settle for a boring office–let your creativity shine through!
