This spectacular tower was named after the 1854 Eureka Stockade, a prospectors’ revolt in the Victorian goldfields. 8. The Melbourne Museum and the Royal Exhibition Building

The Melbourne Museum is surrounded by magnificent gardens and parkland and is only a short tram ride from the CBD. A broad collection portraying society and civilizations, as well as science and the environment, is housed in this contemporary purpose-built museum.

Parliament House, one of Australia’s oldest public buildings, was constructed during the Gold Rush and is lavishly embellished with gold leaf, chandeliers, and a magnificent mosaic floor.

On days when parliament is in session, you may witness the proceedings of the two Houses from the public galleries. On days when parliament is not in session, free, educational tours are offered Monday through Friday.
